Welcome to the Garfield County Housing Authority Pre-Application Site
The following waiting lists are currently open:
Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) - The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance to low-income households so that they may afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing that meets their individual needs in the private rental market.
Project-Based Vouchers at the following properties:
Senior Apartments at The Benedict
Glenwood Green Apartments
Senior Apartments at Maxfield Heights
Red Hill Lofts
Rifle Apartments
Senior Apartments at Lakota Ridge
Silt Senior Housing
Participants pay approximately 30% - 40% of their gross monthly income for rent and utilities, with the balance of the rent paid by GCHA directly to the landlord. Income limits apply.

How to Apply
To complete this Preliminary Application, you must provide an email address or phone number. Please submit it electronically through this system to receive a receipt. If you need a special accommodation or assistance with the application, please contact the Garfield County Housing Authority at 970-625-3589.
Information Needed
Before proceeding, you will need the following information ready:
- Names
- Social Security Numbers
- Birth dates
- Income information for ALL household members.
Eligibility
To apply for housing, you must meet the following criteria:
- Head of Household must be 18+ years of age, or a legally emancipated minor.
- One (1) person in the household must be an eligible citizen or an eligible non-citizen.
- Household total income must meet applicable income limits.
Final program eligibility will be determined when selected and processed for housing assistance.
Application Preference: The Garfield County Housing Authority has adopted a Residency Preference for all waiting lists. An applicant will qualify for a residency preference if they currently live in, work in, or have been hired to work in Garfield County. The Garfield County Housing Authority also has a preference for families receiving TANF and who have completed a self-sufficiency requirement as verified by the TANF caseworker. Eligible applicants will be placed on the waiting list and sorted according to preferences, then date and time.
IMPORTANT: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE GARFIELD COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY IN WRITING WHEN YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES, MAILING ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBERS, OR OTHER MEANS OF CONTACT CHANGE. FAILURE TO NOTIFY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THESE CHANGES COULD RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM ALL WAITING LISTS.
