Applications to the Housing Choice Voucher (formerly known as Section 8) and the Public Housing Wait List programs will now be accepted ONLINE from:
HCV will be open from July 5, 2023, to July 7, 2023
The Public Housing wait list will not close.

Any applicant may at any time during the application process request a reasonable accommodation. Reasonable Accommodation ensures that persons with disabilities have full access to all SHA programs and services. Accommodations for disabled or non-English speaking residents will be made available upon advance request by calling (985) 785-2601.
What do I need to apply?
For each household member you will have to enter the following information:
· Names
· Birth dates
· Social Security Numbers
· Income amounts and sources and Assets
· Emergency/Alternative contact information (optional)
Preferences:
Public Housing is a federally funded program that subsidizes decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low-income persons. Applicants must meet all U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income and eligibility requirements.
Income Limits: HUD requires all HCV participants to meet income requirements when they begin participation in the program. Income limits are current and subject to change by HUD. The table below indicates the maximum income limits by household size:

3 PERSON: $36,900
4 PERSON: $41,000
5 PERSON: $44,300
6 PERSON: $47,600
7 PERSON: $50,650
8 PERSON: $54,150
How to find out your status: Applicants may verify their status on the wait list by logging in with their user ID and password at
www.waitlistcheck.com.

At that time,
Active Applicants may use their same accounts with Assistance Connect,
www.assistancecheck.com, which will allow enhanced communication with the Agency.
