The Red Wing HRA owns and operates public housing units. These units are federally funded through HUD, with rent calculated at 30% of the household’s adjusted gross income.
Public Housing units are available to
low-income applicants and families.
With proper verification(s), the HRA gives preference(s) to those
currently living or working within the city limits of Red Wing. Preferences
are also given for: ** A family whose head, co-head, or spouse is
at least 62 years of age The Jordan
Tower I property offers 100 units. These are primarily single bedroom
apartments. ** For

Our Family
Public Housing properties offer units with 3-to-4 bedrooms. These
sites have occupancy requirements in order to be eligible for housing.
Household sizes must meet requirements to be appropriate for these units. **

Choice Voucher |
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (also known as Section 8) is
a federal housing program funded through the Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD). This program provides rental assistance to eligible
applicants renting units in the private sector. Rent is based on 30% of
the household’s adjusted gross income. Program participants select a
privately owned house, apartment, duplex or mobile home where the property
owner is willing to accept voucher-assisted tenants. ** For
more information on the Housing Choice Voucher - Housing Choice Voucher – Red Wing ** The RWHRA voucher program gives preference
to applicants living or working in Red Wing at time of application. Families where the head or co-head is a
person aged 62 or older, or is a person with disabilities, will also be given
preference. Verification is required of permanent residence, employment, age,
or disability status before this preference is given.

Minnesota Bring it Home (BIH) Rental Assistance Program |
Under Minnesota’s Bring It Home Rental Assistance Program,
households are eligible to apply for the BIH Rental Assistance Program if
they meet all of the following criteria: ** Are
a Minnesota resident; and ** Have an annual income of up to 50% of the
area median income as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), adjusted for family size; and ** Pay more than 30% of the household’s
annual income on rent; and ** Are not receiving federal tenant-based
assistance under Section 8 of the U.S. Housing Act of 1937, as amended; and **
Are not currently in a unit receiving project-based assistance under
Section 8 of the US. Housing Act of 1937, as amended. ** For more information on the Bring it Home
