On behalf of the Housing Development Corporation of Bergen County and the Borough of Upper Saddle River, the Housing Authority of Bergen County is pleased to announce that beginning Monday June 13, 2022 9:00AM EST and closing Friday June 17, 2022 11:59PM EST pre-applications for Upper Saddle River Supportive Housing, 69 one-bedroom apartments located at 570 Route 17 North, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458 will be available online. A random selection lottery will be conducted to select 300 applicants to be placed on the waiting list.

51 of the 69 units will be reserved for low-income seniors 55 years of age or older. 18 of the 69 units will be reserved for special need households, with a preference given to homeless veterans. Of these 18 units, 5 units will be age restricted to individuals 55 years of age and older.

Veteran families must be able to provide proof of Veteran status. By statute, a veteran is defined as a “person who served in the active military, naval, or air service, and who discharged or released there from under conditions other than dishonorable”. The Housing Authority will consider honorable discharges, discharges under honorable conditions or general discharge to be conditions other than dishonorable and will qualify an applicant as a veteran under the first step of the eligibility test.

Pre-applications will be available online only at http://habcnjwaitinglists.org Submission of a pre-application does not guarantee placement on the waiting list. Only one pre-application per household will be accepted. Written and faxed applications will NOT be accepted. Assistance completing online pre-applications will be provided by the Housing Authority at One Bergen County Plaza, 2nd Floor, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Staff will be made available to assist with the completion of pre-applications from Monday June 13, 2022 through Thursday June 16, 2022 between 9:00 am and 3:30 pm.

In order to be eligible, the total household annual gross income cannot exceed the following income limits.

Applicants will be RANDOMLY SELECTED by lottery. The lottery will be held on Tuesday, June, 21st, 2022. Applicants can check their lottery results in their online application portal via www.waitlistcheck.com. Lottery results will be made available after June 21, 2022. Applicants not selected for initial occupancy will remain on the waiting list for future occupancy.
