Welcome to the Tuscarawas Metropolitan Housing Authority Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program

The HCV Program is a federally funded program that subsidizes safe, decent, and sanitary housing for low-income persons. Applicants must meet all U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development income and eligibility requirements.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY. DO NOT SKIP DIRECTLY TO THE APPLICATION.

WHEN: The online application will be available beginning Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

HOW: Applications will be accepted online only. Only one application per household will be accepted. Duplicate or fraudulent applications will be rejected. Paper applications will not be distributed or accepted. If you need assistance in another language, Google Translate will assist you during the application process.

No applications will be taken over the telephone, by fax, email, or in person.

There are no fees associated with applying to the waiting list and any website requesting a fee to apply are not legitimate and not related to the Housing Authority.

WHERE: Applications can be submitted ONLINE with the use of a personal computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. There is no requirement to come to the agency’s office. The Tuscarawas County Public Library has branches throughout Tuscarawas County with public computers and free Wi-Fi. For library locations and hours visit: www.tusclibrary.org (the Dover Library offers similar services in Dover: www.doverlibrary.org; Senior citizens can also receive assistance at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center at 425 Prospect Street in Dover).

Tuscarawas MHA’s office at 134 Second Street SW will also have a computer and staff available to assist applicants, by appointment only.

INFORMATION NEEDED: Full legal names, Social Security number (Head of Household), birthdates, and income information for every person in the household. You must enter your total household income on the application. If your household has no income from any sources, you must enter zero in the income field. The information you provide must be truthful and complete to the best of your knowledge. An email address or phone number will be required. If you do not have an e-mail address, the application process will allow you to create one. As you complete the application process, you will create a login and password. Please keep this information.

WAIT TIMES: The HA does not provide emergency or immediate housing. The amount of time you will wait before your application is selected may be months to years. Voucher turnover and HUD funding may also affect the wait time. You will be notified by mail when your application has been selected.

Wait list applicants are required to report changes of mailing address, in writing, to the HA (see underlined section below).

Applicants who did not reside in Tuscarawas County at the time of application do not have a right to Portability and will be required to lease a unit in Tuscarawas County for the first 12 months after being admitted to the HCV program [24 CFR 982.353(c)(1), 24 CFR 982.353(c)(2)(i), 24 CFR 982.353(c)(2)(ii)]

MAXIMUM INCOME LIMITS PER HOUSEHOLD SIZE: If your annual, gross household income is at or below these limits, you may qualify for assistance. (Income limits are subject to change.)

1 person  - $28,000
2 persons- $32,000
3 persons- $36,000
4 persons- $40,000
5 persons- $43,200
6 persons- $46,400
7 persons- $49,600
8 persons- $52,800

If your mailing address changes after submitting the preliminary application, it is your responsibility to update your address.  You must notify TMHA in writing of the change in address (please include the original address and the new address in the notice).  If we are unable to contact you at the address provided, you will be removed from the Waiting List.
